STRATEGIC PLAN SUMMARY

Overview

In August 2007, Goodwill's board of directors adopted an update to the Strategic Plan that will guide the organization's development over the next three to five years. Much effort has gone into ensuring that Goodwill continues to build on strengths and leverage its resources with those of others to effectively and efficiently support its mission, vision and business objectives.

Goodwill continues to adhere to its historic values and basic principles while working to implement the strategic directions.

7 Major Directives from the Strategic Plan

  • Continue growing Goodwill's retail and secondary market operations.

  • Continue to strengthen Goodwill's talent pool; enhance education, training and development opportunities for employees; and improve internal structure, systems, and processes.

  • Increase the number of work opportunities we can offer people with disabilities and others who have few vocational options.

  • Expand the availability of alternative education opportunities for young people who are having or have had difficulty succeeding in school elsewhere. Develop more of a holistic approach that considers and assists with family and living situations that hinder development or advancement.

  • Raise more money to support Goodwill's education and training initiatives for young people and adults, as well as for other major initiatives.

  • Actively participate with others to help develop and implement long-term solutions to serious social problems in central Indiana.

  • Utilize some of Goodwill's capabilities to help further the mission of Goodwill and organizations with similar missions elsewhere in the United States and in other parts of the world.
